HOUSTON — The December 9 runoff election has concluded, all polling locations have reported, and Harris County GOP-endorsed candidates dominated the night.

Julian Ramirez, Willie Davis, and Twila Carter won Houston City Council At-Large Positions one, two, and three, respectively. Council Member Mary Nan Huffman handily won re-election for Houston City Council District G, and James Franco had a resounding win for Baytown City Council, District 4.

Harris County GOP Chairman Cindy Siegel issued the following statement.

“The people of Houston and Harris County are waking up. In the face of a looming budget crisis, rising crime, and decaying infrastructure, voters showed they trust conservative candidates to tackle these issues head-on.

“With the passing of Proposition A, a position we also supported in the last election, Republicans have a real opportunity to add conservative policies to the agenda and keep Democrats accountable.

“I sincerely congratulate every one of our candidates on their victories, and I especially want to thank the candidates and their families who ran but came up short. Running for office, no matter the level, is a noble and courageous act.

“To say this shows a continued step in the right direction of the work the Harris County GOP is doing to elect Republicans and spread our message would be an understatement. The message being relayed to voters by our grassroots activists and Party leadership is resonating, and we’re looking forward to continuing our work to elect Republicans and to amplify conservative voices in Harris County.”
