HOUSTON, TX, August 11, 2008:  Harris County Republican Party Chairman Jared Woodfill today called on local Democrats to withdraw their invitation to Sen. John Edwards to speak at their annual Johnson-Rayburn-Richards fundraiser.   Woodfill stated, "If the Democrats want to continue their fundraising dinner with Senator John Edwards as the keynote, the dinner should be renamed, ‘The Sex, Lies and Dirty Money Dinner.’  I don’t think that any political party should embrace and endorse the morally bankrupt ideals of lies, deceit and extramarital affairs.  Those values may appeal to Democrats in Washington, DC or San Francisco, but this is Harris County Texas and we have much higher standards here.  I strongly urge the Harris County Democrat Party to choose the honorable path and withdraw the invitation."
