On behalf of the Harris County Republican
Party, I would like to wish you and your family a
happy and safe 4th of July weekend.
As we celebrate our independence this weekend,
let us not forget the brave men and women
of our armed forces who are still fighting to protect the
safety, security and values we all hold dear. Please
remember to pray for all members of our armed forces and their
families this Independence Day weekend.
I also encourage
everyone to be safe this weekend,
especially those who are celebrating with fireworks. Below
are a few safety tips to follow to ensure the safety of you and
your family.
Fireworks Safety Tips

Always follow local ordinances and
laws regarding use of fireworks.

Never allow children to play with or
ignite fireworks.

Read and follow all warnings and
instructions.

Be sure other people are out of range
before lighting fireworks.

Only light fireworks on a smooth,
flat surface away from the house, dry leaves, and
flammable materials.

Never try to relight fireworks that
have not fully functioned.

Keep a bucket of water and a fire
extinguisher close by in case of a malfunction or fire.

Light only one firework item at a
time.

Wear safety glasses when lighting
fireworks.

Be cautious of lighting any fireworks
during strong wind conditions.
