HCRP Cap and Trade Town Hall Meeting
By: Jared Woodfill Chairman, Harris County Republican Party

On Thursday evening, your Harris County
Republican Party hosted the 2nd in our series of Town
Hall Meetings concerning Cap and Trade legislation that
has been passed by the U.S. House and is now being
considered in the U.S. Senate.
Nearly 500 Humble area residents crowded into the Humble
Civic Center to hear presentations by former KHOU Chief
Meteorologist Dr. Neil Frank, United
States Congressman Ted Poe and Texas
Railroad Commissioner Elizabeth Ames Jones.
Dr. Neil Frank talked about the faulty science on which
the global warming arguments are based and then
presented objective facts about why so-called "global
warming" is a myth. Dr. Frank's opinions on this subject
are contained in an OP/ED entitled "Climategate: You
Should Be Steamed" that appeared in The Houston
Chronicle and can be found
by clicking here. Dr.
Neil Frank also suggested visiting
www.junkscience.com
for more information about debunking global warming
myths.

Congressman Ted Poe then gave the
audience his perspective as a member of Congress and
talked about the Republican energy alternatives. A copy
of the Republican plan, entitled The American Energy Act
can be found on our website at www.harriscountygop.com
under the
Town Hall section or by

view the document.
We were also honored to have Texas Railroad Commissioner
Elizabeth Ames Jones speak to the issue and give a view
of the potentially devastating effects Cap-and-Trade
would have on the Texas economy. Following her
presentation, she, Dr. Neil Frank and I opened up the
floor to comments and questions by the audience.
I am encouraged that so many of our Harris County
Republicans attended the event and pledged to take
action to fight this harmful legislation by contacting
members of the U.S. Senate to let their voices be heard.
The
list of Democrat Senators with contact information
along with a sample letter that were distributed at the
event can be found on our website.
Please take action today and be sure to join us for one
of our upcoming Town Hall meetings in your area. For

schedule by
